Beach House Release New Song, ‘Sparks’
Back in May, Beach House announced they would release their fifth full-length, Depression Cherry. Now, they’ve debuted, “Sparks,” the very first track to emerge from the upcoming album. Skip ahead to the 30:00 mark and listen via the audio player at the bottom of the page (via RTVE).
In a press release, the Baltimore-hailing dream-pop duo, which features Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, released a statement explaining that their growth since previous albums has driven them to explore new sounds on Depression Cherry: “With the growing success of Teen Dream and Bloom, the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies” (via Consequence of Sound).
Depression Cherry is slated for an Aug. 28 release via Sub Pop, following their critically acclaimed 2012 effort, Bloom.
Just ahead of that day, Beach House will launch a U.S. tour on Aug. 18 in Portland, Maine. They have headlining dates scheduled through the beginning of October, at which time they’ll head overseas for the European leg of the tour. They’ll return to the states in December, playing two-night residencies in L.A. and San Francisco. Check out a list of all the scheduled stops here.
