Billy Corgan Is a Proud New Dad

Belated congratulations are in order for Billy Corgan. The Smashing Pumpkins leader and his partner Chloe Mendel welcomed a baby boy into the world last month.

Mendel gave birth to Augustus Juppiter Corgan on Nov. 16. The couple works at Corgan’s teahouse Madame ZuZu’s in Chicago and they have been together for two years, according to Alternative Nation. Augustus is their first child together.

The Smashing Pumpkins made their debut at the height of grunge, releasing their inaugural full-length, Gish, in 1991. They last released Monuments to an Elegy in 2014; it serves as the second installment in the band’s ongoing Teagarden by Kaleidyscope series. More recently, Corgan deleted his Twitter account and refocused his efforts on his new People and Their Cars blog. We imagine, however, Augustus now claims 100 percent of the proud new dad's undivided attention.
