Death From Above 1979 Cancel Dates as Tour Mates AWOLNATION Join Prophets of Rage
Death From Above 1979 have canceled the tour dates originally slated as their opening set for AWOLNATION. The duo made the announcement on their Facebook page June 15 as their one-time fellow performers opted to join supergroup Prophets of Rage on the road.
"As boring and/or square as it is to say, the reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run" alone, DFA1979 wrote on the Facebook announcement. They added that "We had nothing to do with that decision" when AWOLNATION revealed they'd be supporting the Prophets on their "Make America Rage Again" outing.
"You guys are a great band but this is really unforgivable for a professional band," AWOLNATION fan Derek Reece wrote on their FB wall. "It's like dumping your ugly girlfriend two days before prom because the hot girl notices you."
DFA 1979 had to cancel multiple concert dates in 2015 supporting Deftones and Incubus due to visa issues. They will resume touring with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Deap Valley in October. Ticketholders for the Death from Above 1979/AWOLNATION dates can get refunds from where they were purchased.
