Last year was a banner year for Ed Sheeran in his native Britain, and he's hoping to replicate that success in the U.S. in 2012. He'll get his first major opportunity at cracking the U.S. market by headlining the VH1 You Oughta Know Tour this fall.

The singer's debut disc '+' will arrived stateside this month, giving North American crowds a chance to fully digest the disc before he makes his first major inroads to the U.S. touring circuit. The trek begins September 19 in Boston and will hit some of the top markets in the country.

Overseas, Sheeran has made his presence known. Earlier this year he won the Brit awards for British Breakthrough Act and British Solo Male Artist. Meanwhile, the Ivor Novello Awards bestowed Sheeran with the Best Song Musically and Lyrically songwriting honor for 'The A Team.'
