Frank Ocean Cancels Tour, Including Dates With Coldplay
Bad news for fans hoping to see Frank Ocean on the road during his upcoming European tour: They've been cancelled, starting with his last-minute decision to pull out of his planned appearance at Sweden's Way Out West festival on Saturday (Aug. 11).
As Rolling Stone notes, Ocean took the stage at the Oya Festival in Norway on Friday, but cut his set short -- which festival organizers attributed to Ocean losing his voice. However, no mention was made of vocal problems in Way Out West's announcement of the cancellation the following day; their note, posted at the event's website, simply said that Ocean had "just informed us that he will be unable to perform this evening" and added, "Both Frank Ocean and we hoped for the best, but unfortunately he will not be performing."
In Ocean's own statement regarding the cancellations, he expressed regret ("Let me start by saying I feel like an a--hole right now") but stopped short of offering specific information as to why he felt the need to come off the road, pulling out of a planned series of dates opening for Coldplay in the process. Saying only that "a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months," he concluded, "Sorry as f---, I'll be back if you'll have me."
