On the eve of a lengthy tour in support of their new Wonderful Wonderful LP, the Killers have weathered another change to their touring lineup, with founding guitarist Dave Keuning electing to remain off the road.

Keuning's decision, first reported in the October issue of Q, has been attributed to a desire to spend more time with his family. Like bassist Mark Stoermer, who announced a similar retirement from the road last year, Keuning remains an active member of the lineup; both musicians were part of the Wonderful Wonderful sessions, and frontman Brandon Flowers has spoken publicly about the group's relatively unusual arrangement being a reflection of their shared musical trust.

"The fact that you can continue to record music together is a good example of how far you’ve come as a band, as individuals, as a family and shows a real sense of maturity," he's quoted as telling Zane Lowe during an appearance on Beats 1. "You know, there are other bands out there that would decide that that’s a deal-breaker, that camaraderie should extend to the stage and not just in the studio."

"Despite conjecture, the Killers are the same four weirdos we’ve always been. And worry not, we will not be performing as a two-piece," reads the band's social media update on the situation. "As Dave announced to Q magazine, he will be taking a break from touring to spend time with his family. We respect his decision, just as we respected Mark’s decision to go back to college."

Pointing out how their live lineup "has grown over the years," the group went on to praise touring members Ted Sablay and Jake Blanton, who've "been in the mix for a very long time." Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannuci Jr. remain the final full-fledged members expected onstage during the upcoming tour.

"More importantly," the band's note adds, "Wonderful Wonderful will be released on September 22, and we can’t wait for you to hear it – on record and at the shows. We will not disappoint."
