The Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck had a limited theatrical run before premiering on HBO on May 4, but in August, the movie will get a second life on the big screen, as it was announced today (July 9) that Montage of Heck will return for another run beginning on August 7. The movie will screen at ArcLight in Los Angeles, as well as at ArcLight Cinemas’ complexes across the country and at New York’s IFC Center. Check out a trailer for the movie below.

The movie has stirred some controversy, especially from people in Cobain's inner circle. Frances Bean Cobain, the singer's daughter, said her father would be proud of the movie, while Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne said, "People need to understand that 90 percent of Montage of Heck is bulls--t." Former bandmate Dave Grohl said the movie would bum him out too much and he only watched ten minutes of it in passing once.

For what it's worth, in our review, we thought the movie was "a haunting telling of Kurt Cobain’s life."
