This week's installment of Mandatory Music is filled with a few big time collaborations and long-awaited returns. More than anything, however, it features new music from Mike Patton – and that's never bad news.

The lead track comes from Nevermen – the supergroup you didn't know you'd soon love featuring the Faith No More frontman, Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio and rapper Adam “Doseone” Drucker. The trio are set to release their debut album (which is the result of seven years of trading tracks) in October. Then we've got our first taste of EL VY – the collaboration between the National's Matt Berninger and Menomena's Brent Knopf; a song from indie iconoclast Lou Barlow's first solo LP since 2009; a frantic new song from U.K. post-punks the Wytches; and a song from the solo debut from Dirty Projectors' Angel Deradoorian.
