Though it's been nearly three years since his solo debut, Matthew E. White has album No. 2 ready to roll. Fresh Blood is set to hit the streets March 10 via Domino, and as a lead up to the album, White has just premiered its first single and video.

In "Rock & Roll Is Cold," we find the Richmond, Va.-based singer-songwriter dishing his thoughts while wandering in the great, wide outdoors. "The images I wanted were John Ford's America, part Bad Lands, part Bonnie and Clyde," White recently told NPR. "To that end, I used a team in Salt Lake City known much more for shooting spectacular outdoor shots than any music videos. That was really fresh for me, not to mention extraordinarily physically challenging at times -- mostly cut out because of my un-gracefulness in the waist-deep snow of the Rockies." You can check out the video below:

"Rock and roll it don't have no soul / Everyone knows that rock and roll is cold," he sings in the upbeat, slightly funky, and decidedly catchy little tune. The long-haired, bearded troubadour mixes elements of folk, rock and soul into his own Americana stew. Uncut called his first album, Big Inner from 2012, "one of the great albums of modern Americana."

Fresh Blood was produced by White along with Trey Pollard. In addition to its release, White has a batch of U.S. tour dates scheduled before heading off to Europe for a lengthy tour.
