Metric have debuted “Too Bad, So Sad,” the third single to emerge from their upcoming album, in a relatively nontraditional fashion: their own app.

Metric frontwoman Emily Haines announced the Pagan Portal app yesterday (July 15), which will help the band’s fans stay current on all the latest from the Canadian indie-rockers’ upcoming album, Pagans in Vegas.

“The idea for this app came from feeling like we wanted to have more freedom in how & when we release our songs, videos, concert tickets, guest list spots, artwork & general vibes,” Haines writes. “Because in my opinion, not everything is for everyone all the time. There are some people who are very dear to us that deserve special attention.”

According to Haines, the app will act as a place where fans can access previously unreleased songs and new music before it lands elsewhere, concert ticket presales and more to-be-determined exclusives.

If you’d like to hear “Too Bad, So Sad,” you can download the Portal Pagan app at this location. The app also boasts Pagans in Vegas tracks “The Shade” and “Cascade.” As Stereogum points out, Metric previously debuted “Too Bad, So Sad” during recent live shows. You can watch them perform the new tune in the video at the top of the page.

Pagans in Vegas is due out Sept. 18, following 2012's Synthetica.
