Royal Blood Crowned Best British Group at 2015 Brit Awards
As our friends across the pond are in the middle of celebrating this year’s edition of the Brit Awards, we just heard some very exciting news about one of our favorite rock duos: Royal Blood came out on top in the Best British Group category!
Their competition was stiff, going up against Alt-J, Clean Bandit, Coldplay and One Direction. Royal Blood are also nominated in a couple of other categories, including Mastercard British Album (for their debut self-titled disc) and British Breakthrough Act.
As they accepted their award from presenter Jimmy Page (yes, that Jimmy Page), they somewhat humbly said, “I suppose we’re expected to give a speech now.”
Royal Blood received significant acclaim throughout 2014, including possibly the highest mark of success: Their self-titled record was nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize. The high regard for their music is not limited to the U.K.; that album peaked at No. 2 on the Top Alternative Albums and No. 8 Top Rock Albums in the U.S.
Congrats to Royal Blood for this much-deserved recognition at the Brit Awards!
