Jimmy Kimmel Live! has uprooted and taken its set to New York City for a week’s worth of shows, and Ryan Adams was on hand on Monday (Oct. 19) to welcome the show to its temporary new home in Brooklyn by fittingly delivering his take on Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York.” Check out the performance above.

“Welcome to New York” appears on Adams’ full-album cover of Swift’s 1989, which landed back in August. The LP will soon receive a physical release, arriving on CD on Oct. 30 and on vinyl on Dec. 18.

Adams and Swift recently sat down for an interview, during which they discussed Adams’ covers, their respective songwriting processes and the Smiths.

“Whenever I’m stuck when I’m writing, I could just put a Smiths record on,” Adams said, “and it’s kind of like if my songwriting was an iPhone, it recharges it in, like, five minutes.”

Adams has since wrapped up his tour behind last year’s eponymous full-length, but he’ll play Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountain View, Calif., on Oct. 24 and 25, along with St. Vincent, Gary Clark Jr. and Spoon. Then, he’ll make an appearance at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City on Nov. 21. Get ticket information at the Pax-Am Records website.
