Sinead O’Connor gained worldwide recognition back in 1990 with her cover of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U.’ However, the Irish singer recently revealed that she can’t stand the ‘Purple Rain’ pop icon, claiming that they came to blows when they first met.

"I loved his music, but I had absolutely no idea or expectation that that single would be such a big hit, not at all,” she recently told Uncut magazine. “Did I ever meet Prince? I did and … we didn't like each other. At all. Ha ha! I'm not going to go into it, but we detest each other … It got violent too, which is why I can't go into it, but it is a very funny story. I'll tell it when I'm an old lady and I write my book."

O’Connor is known for voicing her brazen opinions on hot topics such as women’s rights, religion and politics. But beneath all the controversy, her heart is in the right place, as evidenced by her charity performance on Dublin’s Grafton Street last Christmas Eve. U2 frontman Bono and Glen Hansard also made impromptu street appearances to spread the holiday spirit and help raise money for the homeless.
