This year's category for Best Band/Artist in the Diffuser Music Awards had some stiff competition. From heritage acts like Jack White and the Black Keys to burgeoning outfits like Parquet Courts and Hozier, we figured this would be one of the toughest battles for the readers to declare a victor.

Well, the results speak for themselves -- winning by a landslide were the Smashing Pumpkins. In the midst of a new record -- 'Monuments to an Elegy' -- and constant headline-making interviews, Billy Corgan and company had a very busy 2014, and anyone would have a hard time claiming they don't deserve this award.

As we look forward to seeing what the Pumpkins have in store for the near future, for now, let's celebrate and offer congratulations to them for picking up the Best Band of 2014 in the Diffuser Music Awards!
