Smashing Pumpkins Announce ‘Acoustic-Electro’ Tour With Liz Phair
Last year, not long after releasing the Smashing Pumpkins' latest album Monuments to an Elegy, Billy Corgan called the band's future “murky.” These days, however, it’s looking quite bright -- including a tour and a rough timeline for their next album.
The Pumpkins have announced another jaunt in their In Plainsong tour. The first run of dates took place last year and featured intimate, “acoustic-electro” shows. That same setup will hold true for the band’s upcoming tour, which will kick off on March 22 in Portland. They have more stops scheduled through the next month, culminating with a show in Houston on April 20. Corgan will be joined by his latest Pumpkins lineup, which includes original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Liz Phair will serve as the opener for all of the dates. The Smashing Pumpkins tour marks the Exile in Guyville singer’s first live gigs in six years. Find the complete itinerary at the bottom of the page.
After they wrap up the tour, the Pumpkins plan to record their next album, which will be their 10th in all and the final installment in the band’s Teagarden by Kaleidyscope series.
