Performing for the final time on the Late Show With David Letterman, Steve Earle brought his trusty band the Dukes to the late night stage last night (Feb. 23) in support of his latest LP, TerraplaneAs the host called him "a longtime good friend of ours," Earle seemed right at home playing for Letterman. You can watch his performance of "You're the Best Lover That I Ever Had" in the video above.

"You're the Best Lover That I Ever Had" is the lead single from Earle's new record and one of his catchiest to date. With his signature gravelly vocals and the dominant backing of the Dukes, the gig was flawless -- as is the studio album as a whole.

Earle is wrapping up a run of live shows and has a couple still left on his itinerary, including back-to-back appearances at Nashville's City Winery and a stop at this year's Stagecoach Festival. You can find his complete concert schedule at this location.

And if you haven't picked up Terraplane yet, you can find the digital, CD and vinyl editions of the album here.
