In support of their fifth album, 'Synthetica,' Metric have produced a four-part mini-documentary about the making of the record. The first part has been released today over at the A.V. Club, with future installments coming in the next two weeks.

Canadian indie rock outfit Metric have been together for over a decade now, initially garnering attention with their 2003 debut album, 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?' Metric just released their fifth full-length record, 'Synthetica,' in June to widespread acclaim. Diffuser.fm sat down with bassist Joshua Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key before their set at this year's Lollapalooza

The future might sound like this. That is, if the future is dystopian punk rock -- especially if tomorrow holds the peculiar strain of 'Blade Runner' beatdowns that Metric purvey so expertly. They’re at their highest point yet in fifth studio album ‘Synthetica,’ a multi-genre meld of post punk, electro pop, and points in between.

Metric singer Emily Haines told Diffuser.fm that her band's latest single, 'Youth Without Youth,' was inspired by the idea of a troubled teenager on meth, but you won't find anything quite that dark in the new music video for the song. The clip features Haines and her bandmates performing the song in a plain studio, with a few abstract artsy shots thrown in.

Metric's fifth album, 'Synthetica,' is now available for streaming online to those willing to participate in an online scavenger hunt to locate clues that will "unlock" the stream.

The new Metric single ‘Speed the Collapse’ is a catchy as it is cataclysmic.

Congratulations are in order for alt rockers Metric, who are Diffuser.fm's latest Sound Off victors. The Canadian band overtook the Cribs with their new track 'Youth Without Youth,' which appears on their forthcoming LP 'Synthetica.' Metric’s new disc 'Synthetica' is due out on June 12 and the band just revealed the mind-bending cover art for the upcoming release in addition to the finalized track listing.
