The Rolling Stones have been rumored to headline next year's Isle of Wight festival, but as it turns out, a different type of 'stone' has been confirmed for the legendary fest's 2013 lineup.
Much like fellow British rockers Blur, who recently announced plans to continue their comeback tour into next year, the Stone Roses have revealed their intention to keep their reunion rolling into 2013. The Roses, who reunited in May to play their first shows in more than 15 years, have lined up gigs at the Future Music Festivale in Australia next March.
The Stone Roses' reunion concerts over the summer in their hometown of Manchester, England, have set a Guinness World Record for the fastest selling rock concerts in U.K. history. Tickets for the three gigs in Manchester's Heaton Park at the end of June and beginning of July certainly sold at a swift pace, and all 220,000 were gone in a mere 68 minutes.
Not long after Stone Roses gained widespread critical acclaim for their self-titled 1989 debut album, tensions within the band began to take their toll, eventually resulting in the departure of two founding members following the release of their sophomore set, 'Second Coming.'
Even though Blur have most likely called it quits and the Stone Roses haven't released a new album since 1994, each bands is up for two Q Awards this year. The popular British music magazine, which present the awards, announced its nominees earlier today (Sept. 6).
Stone Roses' Gary "Mani" Mounfield had a big secret when his band returned to the stage earlier summer: His wife, Imelda Mounfield, is pregnant with twins. The bassist and his wife reportedly knew the big news when the original Stone Roses lineup performed their first gigs together in more than 20 years, but they decided not to share it until now.
