The Milk Carton Kids Talk Neckwear, Perform ‘The City of Our Lady’ on ‘Conan’
Indie folk duo the Milk Carton Kids appeared on Conan last night (June 8) and performed their song "The City of Our Lady," but not before, in an unusual but entertaining move for a late night musical guest, engaging in casual conversation with each other for a couple minutes. Watch the whole thing below:
"This is highly unorthodox, but at Conan's request, we're playing a very short song," singer and guitarist Joey Ryan said. "We were here before, and it didn't go so well the last time, so he said we could come back if we just hardly played at all. So now we have to kill, actually, a little bit of time to make the show run the right length."
Ryan then conversed with singer and guitarist Kenneth Pattengale about his decision to wear a "bolo tie with a horse on it, which was not approved" before launching into an intimate performance of "The City of Our Lady," an Americana-flavored — and short — folk song.
Their most recent album, Monterey, was released on May 19. The duo will be on tour from July until December, and their complete itinerary can be found at their website.
