Over the weekend, Rock in Rio USA invaded Las Vegas with a reported 82,000 fans attending the massive event. From Metallica to No Doubt, there was a little something for everyone ... and for fans of Deftones, it was truly an unforgettable weekend.

Along with their impressive hourlong set, the audience was greeted with an unexpected cameo from Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath during the Deftones' performance of "Passenger." Filling in the vocal work for Tool's Maynard James Keenan (who is featured on the studio track), McIlrath elevated the already powerful performance to a whole new level. You can check out the fierce vocal accompaniment in the video above around the 46:40 mark.

Although Deftones recently announced a brand new album due out Sept. 26, they did not perform any new material in Vegas. However, frontman Chino Moreno recently spoke to BBC's Radio 1 about their long-awaited new album, stating, "It's coming out really good. It's just another Deftones record. And I feel like it's us reaching a little bit, getting more into the song structures and trying to challenge ourselves a little bit, you know what I mean? It's sounding good. I think it's gonna' be a great record." You can check out that full interview below.

The band’s new record will serve as the follow-up to 2012′s Koi No Yokan.
