Originally from Southern California and now based in Brooklyn, alt-electronic duo VYD are gearing up to release a brand-new EP this summer. Laced with sounds inspired by '90s rock and hip-hop -- and on occasion, some sick Nile Rodgers-esque guitar licks -- the new disc encompasses the best of both rock and roll and electronic music.

Today (April 30), Diffuser is thrilled to partner with VYD -- comprised of Nick Wisse and Justin Howard -- to give you a taste of what to expect from the new EP with the track "Hot Water" -- take it for a spin in the audio player below.

"I wrote 'Hot Water' from a weird place, head-wise," Howard tells us. "It's essentially about a relationship on its last leg ... not the sad, heartbroken part, but where there's a disconnect, where the space between you two gets big. I love the minimal, atmospheric production Nick did because I think it reflects what the song is all about: not the people in the relationship so much as everything that's between them."

As for that production, Wisse explains, "I remember when Justin sang the vocals and the melody and a beat came right to my head. I'm big on when you feel the groove for the first time, you roll with it -- just ride the wave and see where it goes. This song came together more quickly than any other song on the EP for that reason."

VYD take their influences and inspirations and deliver an unforgettable, sun-soaked listening experience -- just in time for the heat of the summer. As you get ready for their new EP, you can stay up-to-date with everything happening in VYD's world at their official website.
