Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live opened its 41st season with Miley Cyrus as both host and musical guest. Now, a new fan-launched petition is vying for Dave Grohl to receive the same arrangement.

The petition proposes that Grohl host SNL with Foo Fighters serving as performers. It would certainly be a timely episode, as currently, Grohl and company are on a consistently headline-making tour behind their most recent full-length, Sonic Highways, which arrived last year in conjunction with the frontman’s Emmy-winning HBO docu-series of the same name.

Grohl has also made frequent appearances on the comedy sketch series. “Dave Grohl is the only [SNL musical guest] to appear on the show over 12 times and frequent in sketches but never host,” the petition reads.

Grohl first appeared on the show with Nirvana in 1992. Likewise, Paul McCartney -- who filled in for the late Kurt Cobain -- performed on the show with Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear as a reincarnation of Nirvana in 2012. Foo Fighters have played another six times, while they also appeared with Mick Jagger in 2012.

Since it launched last month, the petition has already garnered 3,400 signatures, nearing its goal of 4,000. If you agree with this worthy cause, you can add your own name right here.

The next episode of SNL will air on Oct. 10. Amy Schumer will serve as host, while the Weeknd is set to perform.
