Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce New Album
We can officially add "new album from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs" to our list of things to look forward to in 2013.
The band, which has been relatively silent since releasing their third album, 'It's Blitz!' in 2009, has revealed plans to return in 2013 with an as-yet-untitled collection of new material. KCRW host Jason Bentley broke the story (via NME), telling listeners that the album will be out in the spring.
Further details are scarce, but the NME points out that this isn't the first time we've heard rumblings of a new YYY record lately -- in fact, former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy was rumored to be producing the sessions, although he dismissed them by saying, "I just did a little fun stuff. Nothing really big; I don't have time and they don't have time. I think they're done with their record now, I was just fussing around. I didn't make their album. They're just friends."
Singer Karen O also hinted at new music during an interview with the U.K.'s Sun tabloid late last year, saying she'd been "tinkering around" with "the boys" in the band in between work on her opera, 'Stop the Virgens.'
