Post-punk princess Karen O took a step away from rocking with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs last year to present 'Stop the Virgens,' her so-called "psycho-opera" multimedia event that ran for eight shows last year in New York City. Last weekend, O took 'Virgens' to Sydney, Australia’s Vivid Festival at the famed Sydney Opera House, and while there visited the Australian radio network Triple J for a promotional appearance.

"We were trying to veer away from rock opera," O says when explaining the concept behind the "psycho-opera" tag. "It's a far cry from when Bowie was doing 'Ziggy [Stardust and the Spiders from Mars],' so we were trying to veer away from that. But it is a bit psycho and it's definitely psychedelic."

Karen O followed her brief talk with an acoustic performance of a song from the show called 'Duet' with musician Jason Grisell (YYY guitarist Nick Zinner was on hand for the interview but didn't perform). "It's a love song," she says before launching into the tune, a tender ballad which she says "is really early in the show." We last heard from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on 2010's 'It Blitz,' but the word on the street is that they've begun working on new material, so hopefully it won't be long.
