Animal Collective Launch ‘Painting With’ iPhone App, Debut New Song ‘Lying in the Grass’

Animal Collective’s forthcoming full-length Painting With has inspired a new iPhone app that allows users to do exactly what the album title suggests -- and hear a new song.

Today (Jan. 28), the Baltimore experimental rockers have launched their Painting With app. Two users can simultaneously collaborate on digital paintings, which can then be shared via social media and Animal Collective’s website. The app also features a strobe light that “animates the zoetropic turntable slipmat” included on the deluxe vinyl edition of Painting With, according to a press release. And finally, the app boasts the brand-new song “Lying in the Grass,” which will debut across traditional outlets on Feb. 1. Download Painting With now over at iTunes.
