Animal Collective Share Blippy, Buoyant New Song ‘Lying in the Grass’

As promised, Animal Collective have shared their latest Painting With single “Lying in the Grass” via all the usual outlets.

Last week, the experimental rockers debuted the single on their brand-new, interactive Painting With app. Now, it’s available for streaming in the video at the top of the page (and on Spotify and Apple Music). Vocals bounce back and forth between Panda Bear and Avey Tare atop the track's bubbling backdrop. The song's three-and-a-half-minute run is no doubt representative of an album comprised of what Avey Tare describes as “really short songs: no B.S., get in, get out material.”

Painting With is slated for a Feb. 19 release via Domino. "Lying in the Grass" follows the upcoming album’s lead track “FloriDada.”

Animal Collective will celebrate the release of their new album at the first stop in their upcoming tour, which will take place in Philadelphia. From there, they have U.S. dates scheduled through March. They’ll then return to the states in May. See the complete itinerary right here.
