Earlier this year, Animal Collective released their 10th record Painting With, and followed it up with a lengthy tour. Today (Dec. 12), they announced they’re going back out on the road with a handful of dates scheduled for next spring.

They’ll begin on May 17 at the Music Farm in Charleston, S.C., and will remain on the East Coast until May 28, when they wind up at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. Two of the group’s members, Avey Tare and Deakin, will DJ on New Year’s Eve at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, N.Y.  You can see the list of dates below and get full ticket information on Animal Collective’s website.

Painting With arrived in February, offering singles in “FloriDada,” "Golden Gal" and “Lying in the Grass,” the last of which was released in conjunction with an app that allowed users to create digital paintings and included a strobe light to help animate the slipmat that was included in the vinyl deluxe edition of the record. Tare referred to Painting With as being comprised of “really short songs: no B.S., get in, get out material,” which was a departure from the 23-minute jam, “Michael, Remember,” that came out of the first rehearsal for the record.
