The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach’s new project, the Arcs, just dropped their full-length debut, Yours, Dreamily, last month. Now, they have announced an EP with Dr. John and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo for Record Store Day Black Friday.

The Arcs vs. the Inventors 10” will feature six songs with Dr. John and Hidalgo, and it’s said to be the first in a series of collaborative releases from Auerbach’s new band. In a press release, the Black Keys leader revealed he enlisted seasoned musicians to work on brand-new material for the collection:

Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past. In this series we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective. We’ll continue in this series to track down our heroes and bug them until they agree to make some noise with us. Hopefully we learn a thing or two.

This isn’t Auerbach’s first time working with Dr. John. Auerbach produced the New Orleans legend’s 2012 LP, Locked Down, and Dr. John joined the Black Keys for a performance of El Camino's “Lonely Boy” at the 2013 Grammys.

The Arcs vs. the Inventors will first land in record shops on Nov. 27 via Nonesuch in conjunction with Record Store Day Black Friday. It’s not exclusive to RSD, so it will receive another run at a later date. That's the album artwork below:
