Dave Matthews Band Soundcheck New Songs for 2012 Tour Kickoff

The much-beloved Dave Matthews Band begin their summer 2012 tour, their first in nearly two years, tonight in Texas. An eager fan grabbed video of two new songs during a soundcheck that took place last night -- see them (and the tour dates) below.

The two new tracks are 'Mercy' and 'Sweet,' probable candidates for an unnamed, forthcoming fall album. 'Mercy' -- which the band performed on 'Jimmy Fallon' last month -- has love song written all over it, with Matthews' signature sing-whisper in full effect. 'Sweet,' if you can hear it over the conversation in the footage, sounds, well, like Matthews at his sweetest -- and then the weight of drums comes in.

The DMB tour bus will be wending its way all over the country with dates up the East Coast and Midwest through mid-July. The band flies out West for a string of September shows in Washington and California. Head over to their website to grab tickets.

The Dave Matthews Band have a subculture all to their own, an organized legion of fans, antsmarching.org. A surreptitious ant by the username of "specialanthony" posted to the forum his eavesdropping on the soundcheck and recorded a spate of video bootlegs, as well as this set list spoiler: 'You Never Know,' 'Ee Hee,' 'If I Had It All,' 'Grace is Gone,' 'Beach Ball,' 'Mercy' and 'Sweet.'

Of course, it’s not just DMB that you’re getting on their 2012 tour. Two romping, stomping Diffuser.fm favorites will be opening: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at the two Texas shows, and the Avett Brothers for three gigs in Washington.
