David Bowie Teases Creepy Video for ‘Lazarus’

On Friday (Jan. 8), David Bowie will celebrate his 69th birthday and the release of his 25th album Blackstar (stylized as ★), but before then, he will premiere the video for the album’s second single “Lazarus.”

Today, Bowie has shared a teaser for the forthcoming music video, which will arrive in full on Thursday. From the brief excerpt, we learn the clip follows Bowie’s same masked protagonist from the “Blackstar” video, which saw him in the midst of a sci-fi epic complete with a spaceman, a girl with a tail and creepy dancers. This time, Bowie’s character is confined to a hospital bed -- check it out above.

“Lazarus” is the only track from Blackstar to appear in Bowie’s Off-Broadway play starring Michael C. Hall. Following its debut last month, the Dexter actor performed the song on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Blackstar, which follows 2013’s The Next Day, boasts seven tracks in all. Take a look at the complete rundown below:
