Claire Boucher, aka dance artist Grimes, was the victim of theft in England last night (Aug. 30). She tweeted that her gear was taken after a performance at the HMV Ritz in Manchester.

"hey manchester! all the grimes gear was stolen last night - if you know anything about this get at me!" she tweeted.

Hopefully Grimes will be able to recover or replace her equipment in a hurry, because she has a show at the Electric Picnic festival in Ireland tomorrow (Sept. 1) and a few more gigs in the U.K. next week before she returns home to her native Canada to kick off a month-long North American club tour.

Grimes has been building her fan base thanks to her acclaimed 2012 album 'Visions' and the eye-popping music video 'Genesis.' Her genre-spanning music is difficult to categorize, but she gave it a shot in a chat with Interview magazine:

"I think my sound is post-Internet," she said. "People my age had the Internet when they were kids. So I think I just had a really diverse musical background, but from a really young age. People who are 30 and older don't have that—they were raised with genres of music. But people my age had everything all at once, and that's why get Animal Collective and all these weird medley bands. Because genres are sort of disappearing, people just use bands as reference points. And if I were to describe my sound, I'd just say it's 'modern.'"
