M83 Announce North American Tour Ahead of New Album

M83 have reportedly completed the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated 2011 full-length Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. While we don’t yet know the forthcoming LP’s release date, we do know it’s expected sometime this year. In anticipation of that day, Anthony Gonzalez and company have announced a new batch of tour dates.

The experimental dream-pop outfit will launch the North American leg of the tour on April 6 in New Orleans. M83 have more stops planned through June 6, when they will play a concert at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD., with Tame Impala. The run of dates also includes appearances at Coachella in Indio, Calif.; Sasquatch! in George, Wash.; and Governors Ball in New York City. See the complete list of dates at the bottom of the page.

In a recent interview, Gonazalez described the band’s upcoming album as “epic” and “eclectic.” He also revealed it’s inspired by ‘70s and ‘80s American sitcoms like Punky Brewster and Who’s the Boss? “I feel like TV shows are starting to sound and look the same,” he said. “There’s no more passion anymore. So this album is a tribute to those old-fashioned shows.”
