For those fans who subscribe to their favorite bands' email lists, you know that every once in awhile you'll get a surprise in your digital mailbox -- maybe you catch wind of a new tour before it's officially announced, maybe you get a discount on merchandise ... and maybe you get to hear a brand-new track before anyone else.

Queens-based singer-songwriter Matt Sucich recently took the latter approach with those fans who receive his mass emails when he unveiled his latest piece of original work, the beautiful "Mirages." You can stream it in the audio player below.

"You let me email you all the time. And then you come to shows. And you've been supporting me and this ridiculous line of 'work' I'm in for years," he writes to his fanbase. "I want you to know I'm incredibly grateful for that. Soooo here you go":

It's been a long time since we've heard a studio cut of new music from Sucich; he released his debut, Jubilation & Jealousy, in 2011, and followed it up with Layers in 2012. Since then, we've gotten a few tastes of new tunes, but "Mirages" seems to be the start of something fresh for him.

The track was produced by Paul Loren and recorded live-to-tape at Saltlands Studio and Sterling Society Social Club in Brooklyn, and as Sucich says, "There's a lot of new music and I promise the next one won't be such a long wait!"

You can stay up-to-date with everything happening in Sucich's world at his official website -- and make sure to grab details on his upcoming gig, Communion NYC, at Rockwood Music Hall at this location.
