Passion Pit appeared last night on 'Saturday Night Live,' where they played two songs -- 'Take a Walk' and 'Carried Away' -- from their acclaimed sophomore album, 'Gossamer.' (Watch them both below.) On record, the group exists largely a solo project for singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist mastermind Michael Angelakos, but live, it's a team effort, a nine-strong electro-pop force to be reckoned with -- and danced to.

In recent months, Angelakos has spoken candidly about his lifelong struggles with depression, but commanding the 'SNL' stage, he seemed fully engaged in the music. While 'Take a Walk' featured an earworm keyboard riff that likely had viewers humming in their sleep, highlight 'Carried Away' found Angelakos showing off his four-octave range, providing yet another reason why Passion Pit -- with its deceptively joyful mix of ecstatic hooks and bummed-out lyrics-- is one of indie's most intriguing bands.
