New York City-based singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten is gearing up to release a new EP. I Don't Want to Let You Down will appear a year after her latest full-length release, the critically-acclaimed Are We There.

The new EP collects four new studio recordings and one live track, clocking in at 22 minutes. I Don't Want to Let You Down features "documents of surrender and disappointment, admission and longing." It was co-produced by Van Etten and Stewart Lerman, who was also behind the board for Are We There.

The songs become whole with the help of a large crew of collaborators: Heather Woods Broderick (keyboards, strings, vocals), Doug Keith (guitar), Zeke Hutchins (drums), Brad Cook (bass), Darren Jesse (drums), Peter Broderick (strings), Stuart Bogie (woodwinds), and the War on Drugs’ Adam Granduciel (guitar) and Dave Hartley (bass).

The 34-year-old artist has built a reputation on her often personal and emotionally direct lyrics, but as she gains momentum, she somewhat fears losing her muse. "I still write from a personal place," she told Spin last fall. "I started playing and people responded to it and connected with it and now, I don’t even know what I’m really connecting with anymore or if I’m helping people. Now it’s more of a business. I love everyone I work with but how am I going to have the time to step away and have a life to even write about?"

Van Etten will also be heading out on tour for a series of dates in Europe, along with a couple of festival gigs in the U.S.
