Lana Del Rey

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, a.k.a. Lana Del Rey, got off to a somewhat rocky start in music. After signing a record deal, Lizzy Grant recorded an album that was shelved after she changed management and her name. People began to take notice of her when she released ‘Video Games’ on YouTube, and followed that with the ‘Born to Die’ album in 2012, a grand display of youthful drama with Del Rey’s sultry, molasses vocals poured over sleepy trip-hop drums and dense strings. But Del Rey seems constantly at odds with her own success. When asked how long she was able to enjoy success before things went bad, she replied, "I never felt any of the enjoyment. It was all bad, all of it." The songstress released ‘Ultraviolence’ in 2014, with a title track that dangerously tweaks the Crystals’ ‘He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)’ for modern times. The sense of doom and mystery Del Rey holds of her music makes it all that much heavier.

Lana Del Rey – Rockers We Want to See as ‘The Voice’ Mentors
Has Lana Del Rey -- and America -- moved far enough past her 'Saturday Night Live' debacle to be accepted as a mentor on 'The Voice'? There are worse crimes than experiencing some major stage fright while performing live on 'SNL,' and we're guessing LDR could use the exposure of mentoring on the show to redeem herself...

Courtney Love Informs Lana Del Rey That ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ Is About Her Vagina
Just a few days after Lana Del Rey turned in a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ during a concert in Sydney, Australia (check it out here), Courtney Love took to Twitter to point out something to LDR that neither the she nor the rest of the general public reading Love's tweets would really care to hear: that ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ is about Courtney Love’s vagina.

Lana Del Rey treated Australian fans to a cover of Nirvana's 'Heart-Shaped Box' Thursday night during her concert at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney -- or did she? While LDR certainly did sing the 'In Utero' single to a stripped-down accompaniment of electric guitar, what sounds to be some sort of bowed instrument (violin? cello?) and little else, whether it was actually a treat seems to be a matter

Lana Del Rey's breakthrough hit 'Video Games' has spawned countless covers by amateur artists on YouTube and a handful of versions from like-minded musicians like Amanda Palmer and Kasabian, but surprisingly few cover attempts from high-profile crossover artists. That recently changed thanks to Boy George's just-released 'Video Games' video, which takes the tune into a whole new sonic territory. R

Lana Del Rey's '60s mod-inspired look -- auburn hair teased into a bouffant at the crown paired with short, flowery dresses -- has long turned heads. Now, the 'National Anthem' singer gets to play the role of model. LDR has been confirmed as the face of discount retailer H&M's Fall 2012 line. She will appear in the print advertising. A second campaign is slated for Winter 2013.

No artist has been as divisive -- or as readily press-generating -- as the artist formerly known as Lizzie Grant. The ample-lipped starlet built an underground following before 'Born to Die' dropped back in January 2012, and since then each single (plus each subsequent remix and video) has generated waves across the blogosphere.
