Ty Segall + His Band Play New Song ‘Candy Sam’ While Wearing Creepy Baby Masks
Back in November, Ty Segall pretty much trolled the entire music industry when he sent a handful of journalists his new album Emotional Mugger on VHS tape. For those of us not on his mailing list and who have long since abandoned our VHS players, we’ll have to wait until January to get our hands on the album. But today (Dec. 10), the California garage-rocker generously unveiled a new song in typical offbeat fashion.
Now when you visit Segall’s Emotional Mugger website, you can watch the guitarist and his band play album track “Candy Sam” -- while donning super-creepy baby masks. The whole thing concludes with a sax rendition of “Silent Night.” Check it out for yourself right here.
Emotional Mugger is due out Jan. 22 via Drag City. Segall also shared a hotline you can call for all of your emotional mugging ailments, one assumes (refresher: emotional mugging is a “psychoanalytic subject to subject exchange formed as a response to our hyper-digital sexual landscape”). You can reach that at 1-800-281-2968.
The perennially busy Segall has a bunch of North American tour dates on the horizon. He’ll hit the road at the beginning of the new year with five consecutive dates in California between Jan. 13 and 19. Then he'll head out of his home state and across the country, with stops scheduled through April. See a complete itinerary at the Drag City website.
