In an awards show that featured predictably ostentatious numbers from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Demi Lovato, the Weeknd might have stolen MTV's VMAs Sunday night with his pyrotechnic-filled performance of "Can't Feel My Face." (Of course, Kanye West stole back the spotlight just a couple minutes later when he accepted the Video Vanguard award.)

The Canadian R&B singer got plenty of attention from famous faces in the audience like the ubiquitous Taylor Swift and the man of the night:

The Weeknd was nominated for three awards at this year's show: Best Male Video for "Earned It" (originally on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack), Best Collaboration for "Love Me Harder"with Ariana Grande and Song of the Summer for "Can't Feel My Face." He didn't win Best Male Video or Song of the Summer.
