Tobias Jesso Jr. made his way to D.C.’s 9:30 Club over the weekend, and during his set, he delivered a series of unexpected and unrehearsed but impressive covers.

You can watch the Canadian singer-songwriter run through D’Angelo’s slick Voodoo track “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” the Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness hit “Can’t Feel My Face,” Haim’s breakthrough single “Forever” and Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know.” Check out all four covers in the fan-shot clips at the bottom of the page.

It’s been a big year for Jesso, who dropped his debut full-length Goon earlier this year. The singer was included on the short list of nominations for this year’s Polaris Music Prize (the award ultimately went to Buffy Sainte-Marie for Power in the Blood) and his debut effort was the subject of a short documentary.

Jesso’s tour continues tonight (Oct. 19) in Asheville, N.C. He has more U.S. stops scheduled through the end of the month, culminating with a show in L.A. on Oct. 30. See a full itinerary and ticket information at his website.
