As you may have noticed, we're pretty happy about Bob Mould's return to rock 'n' roll. His new album, 'Beauty & Ruin,' came out just a couple of days ago, and he and his band showed up on 'Conan' last night to play the new single 'I Don't Know You Anymore.'

It is, as we'd expect from Mould and company, a high-gain bit of power pop that manages to stick in your head long after the song ends.

In an interview with NPR that came out yesterday, Mould talked about the beginnings of his punk-rock career and the how resurgence of punk after Nirvana's 'Nevermind' changed music forever. He also revealed that he almost produced that album. He said that Nirvana's success primed music fans' ears for music like his.

"I'm saying the success of Nevermind re-tempered the ears of the listeners throughout the world," he said. "It was a heavy, punky record, but there was something about it that was so accessible that it opened up all these pathways for other musicians — myself included — to have our music heard."

Mould is taking the new album out on the road soon. He will be playing a few shows throughout June and July before kicking off a full-fledged tour in September. He recently released a video for the new single that includes an appearance by Decemberists member Colin Meloy. Check it out below.
