Glasgow's synth-pop pride, Chvrches, recently announced that they are currently working on and recording their untitled sophomore album in Scotland. And now they've revealed that they plan to channel Prince and the late Michael Jackson in their new songs.

The band further added that they would only be utilizing "the absolute key elements" of the two legendary singers on their new music. Martin Doherty mentioned in a recent print issue of NME that the band plans to make the new album "leaner" than their last, 'The Bones of What You Believe.' "I think we'll use fewer instruments but ultimately try and do more with them," he told the British magazine. "When you listen to a Michael Jackson song or a Prince song, you realize there's absolutely nothing in it but an amazing bass line, drums and singing. We want to channel some of that."

Lead singer Lauren Mayberry also spoke to NME about how her lyrics came about, "based on personal experience, or at least a personal perspective on external events."
