Chvrches Fire Another Round at Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda
A couple days after Chvrches responded to Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda's comments regarding the synth-pop trio's music, the Scottish group has released a three-hour video addressing the subject.
Actually, the video is no more than three full hours of the refrain from the Knack's 'My Sharona' -- hilariously appropriated here as 'Mike Shinoda' -- played over and over again over top an image of the Linkin Park rapper giving a thumbs up.
And oh yeah, there's a speech bubble coming his mouth that says, "I Love Chvrches." You can watch the video above. But really, you get the point after about 15 seconds.
The 'Mike Shinoda 3hr CHVRCHES MEGAMIX,' as it's called, was announced on the trio's Twitter:
Rock's latest feud stems from comments Shinoda made to Noisey back in April, when he said, “There’s so much stuff that sounds like Haim or Chvrches or Vampire Weekend, that I’m full. The thing I’m hungry for is not that. I turn on the rock station in L.A., and it sounds like Disney commercial music.”
Chvrches in return fired back at his "pointless dig" by stating that they've "developed a near super-human ability to ignore any outside comments" ... before taking their own dig at Shinoda.
Among other things, singer Lauren Mayberry said she "doesn’t like being called a corporate sellout by the man who wrote the theme music for the MTV VMAs.”
Here's the original video interview, in which Chvrches responded to Shinoda's comments:
