Mac DeMarco headlined a Planned Parenthood benefit in Brooklyn last night (Feb. 14), and he trotted out a cover of Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" that was ready-made for Valentine's Day.

The Canadian singer-songwriter and resident goofball played a stripped-down, acoustic set at the annual Valentine’s Day Village of Love benefit concert and dance at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. In addition to his mirthful rendition of the 1977 Billy Joel track, DeMarco also covered the Four Seasons’ “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” (which makes semi-frequent appearances in the singer’s set lists). Watch both performances at the bottom of the page. The event also featured sets from Boss Hog, Kevin Morby, Kid Congo, Cymbals Eat Guitars’ Joseph D’Agostino, Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, Mutual Benefit and more.

DeMarco dropped his mini-LP Another One in August of last year. He’ll kick off a string of North American tour dates this May. First, he’ll play a show in Philadelphia on May 12 followed by more stops scheduled through the beginning of June. Along the way, he’ll play this year’s Sasquatch! Festival in George, Wash., and Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio. See his complete itinerary right here.
