Next Friday (Sept. 9), Nick Cave will deliver his 16th album, Skeleton Tree along with a documentary about its production called One More Time With Feeling. In advance of its release, he has given us the clip for its first single, “Jesus Alone.”

You can watch it above, and the press release notes that the video comes directly from the movie. In addition to seeing Cave record his vocal track, we get a glimpse of the musicians laying down the string arrangement as Cave watches from the control room.

Recorded with the Bad Seeds, Skeleton Tree is Cave’s first record since 2013’s Push the Sky Away. It was created in the aftermath of the death of Cave’s son, Arthur, who fell from a cliff in Brighton, England last year. The tragedy forms the backdrop of both the album and the movie.

Directed by Andrew Dominik, One More Time With Feeling was filmed in both 2D and 3D, and mixes black-and-white with color. It contains interviews and studio footage, with “Intermittent narration and improvised rumination” by Cave. It’s described as a “stark, fragile and raw and a true testament to an artist trying to find his way through the darkness.”

The day before Skeleton Tree’s release, One More Time With Feeling will air in more than 800 theaters around the world, and screenings will continue throughout the weekend. For a complete list of times and locations, visit the film’s website.
