Phil Cook of Hiss Golden Messenger and Megafaun is preparing to release his debut solo album, Southland Mission, on Sept. 11 via Thirty Tigers and Middle West. Today (Sept. 1), Cook shared a track from the upcoming album. "Ain't It Sweet" has him reuniting with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, his former bandmate in both DeYarmond Edison and the Shouting Matches. Vernon provides backing vocals on the Allman Brothers-like country-rock track, which you can listen to below, via the Line of Best Fit.

Cook will support the album on the road in September and October with shows in North America and Europe, and you can find his complete tour schedule at his website. Hiss Golden Messenger also has a few shows left in 2015, including a couple dates with Jason Isbell, so find their upcoming itinerary here.

As for Vernon, Bon Iver has been quiet as of late, but he's still been busy: He created and hosted the first annual Eaux Claires Music + Arts Festival in July, he's performed lived with Kanye West, the National and Sufjan Stevens, and he's also collaborated with James Blake.
