Sturgill Simpson Announces New Fall Tour Dates
Sturgill Simpson has added a new set of fall dates to his already extensive summer tour.
Simpson -- who released his most recent album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, last year -- will pick up his current tour in a few short days on June 20 at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware. He’s also slated to make appearances at the Eaux Claires, Forecastle, Newport Folk and Lollapalooza festivals.
The first North American leg of the tour runs through Aug. 2 with a stop in Indianapolis before Simpson ventures overseas for a series of concerts in Europe. He’ll return to the states on Sept. 6 with a show in Fargo, N.D., wrapping things up with appearances at this year’s Austin City Limits.
Throughout the duration of the tour, Simpson will share the stage with Old Crow Medicine Show, the Avett Brothers, Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson. Check out the complete itinerary below.
We caught Simpson’s excellent live show at this year’s Governors Ball in New York City earlier this month. Check out a review and photos from the festival here.
Simpson was recently nominated for several Americana Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Metamodern Sounds and Song of the Year for “Turtles All the Way Down.” Winners will be announced when the awards show takes place in Nashville on Sept. 16. Earlier this year, Simpson announced he had signed with Atlantic Records for his follow-up to Metamodern Sounds.
