After a series of reunion gigs this past summer and announcing that they signed to Virgin/EMI for their first album in more than a decade, the Libertines’ Carl Barât confirmed via Twitter that he’s on his way to Thailand to start recording the band’s third record:

The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty recently left a rehab center in Thailand, and now the band will begin recording at Karma Studios. Doherty himself said that the album would be underway once “Barât next bounds into view in his bandana and leathers.”

The English singer also offered some insight into the Libertines’ forthcoming reunion album, saying he was attempting to recruit a “warlord’s daughter” to play drums on it -- and he’s not worried about meeting fans’ expectations for the new LP, which will land sometime this year.
