Watch the Lyric Video for Coheed and Cambria’s New Love Song, ‘Here to Mars’
Next month, Coheed and Cambria will drop The Color Before the Sun, their first album to exist outside the fictional Armory Wars concept that has driven all of their releases since their 2002 debut. Now, the Claudio Sanchez-led outfit has shared the forthcoming LP’s second track, “Here to Mars.” Listen above (via Rolling Stone).
In a corresponding interview with Rolling Stone, Sanchez revealed the new, grandiose love song was inspired by the frontman’s relationship with his wife and, at the time, the anticipation of their son's birth.
“We collaborate on so many things, my wife and I: music, comics, but here we are now, collaborating on a life together,” Sanchez said. “It was huge.”
“It was just my way of expressing my gratitude to her,” he continued. “And I know some people would say, ‘Well, Mars is a limitation. You only love her to Mars? We have an ever-expanding universe out there, and we’re only a part of this small galaxy.’ Well, for me it’s like, I’ll never know what that distance is. To me, that might as well be infinity. My love for her is ever-expanding.”
