As it turns out, the countdown clock that recently appeared on Deerhunter’s website did in fact foretell a new album from the Atlanta-hailing indie rockers. They will release Fading Frontier on Oct. 16 via 4AD.

In advance of the album’s arrival, the band has shared a music video for the LP’s lead single, “Snakeskin” (watch above). The Valentina Tapia-directed clip prominently features frontman Bradford Cox and his dog, which pretty much confirms that the “Faulkner” GIF that accompanied the band’s Fading Frontier countdown depicted Cox and his pup.

Cox announced the band’s upcoming album on Atlanta’s AM 1960 yesterday evening (Aug. 16). According to a press release, Fading Frontier was produced by the band and Ben H. Allen III, who also worked on Deerhunter’s 2010 full-length, Halcyon Digest. Likewise, the album marks the first time vocals will be shared by Cox and guitarist Lockett Pundt.

Fading Frontier is Deerhunter’s seventh album to date, following 2013’s Monomania. You can pre-order a digital download or physical copy at 4AD. Check out the complete tracklist at the bottom of the page.
