Mac DeMarco’s Old Shoes Are Going For More Than $20K on eBay

UPDATE: As of Jan. 31, bidding has topped $20,000.

Calling Mac DeMarco fans: the 'Salad Days' artist is auctioning his old red Vans for charity. But, if you want them, you better be willing to drop some serious cash.

The Canadian singer/songwriter put them on eBay yesterday afternoon (Dec. 28) with a starting bid of $.99, but the price quickly surged to $8,500 by that evening. The bidding hit the five-figure mark earlier this morning.

"I'm selling an old pair of my shoes," DeMarco wrote on the auction page. "I've John Hancocked the left shoe. Will anyone buy an old stinky pair of shoes? I don't know. lets wait and see. I'll probably throw some other crap in the box before shipping it, I dunno what. If you're one of those kids who tried to take them off my feet while I was crowd surfing at some point this year, nice try jackass. But hey, here's another opportunity for you to have them."

DeMarco rocked these shoes onstage in 40 different cities all over the world and all proceeds will benefit the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls.
